Tread Compound Development with CarbonX: On-the-Road Performance Drives Sustainability
Wednesday, 14th of September, 11:30am – 12:00pm
Sustainable sourcing, transport, production, and distribution are all excellent strategies for improving the sustainability of a tire. But most tire-related CO2 emissions occur in the use phase.
CarbonX will present LCA results comparing a Summer PCR tire where CarbonX® was used to replace both silica and carbon black to a commercial one. In this formulation, CarbonX® was able to expand the conventional tire performance triangle by improving rolling resistance, abrasion resistance, and wet grip simultaneously.
Data will be presented alongside the evolution of our tread compound, from lab to factory to actual tires. We will conclude with a brief summary on the potential impact of using our technology to meet increasingly ambitious GHG emission reduction targets for passenger cars and trucks in US.
