Application Development Engineer – Thermoplastics

Since it was founded in 2014, CarbonX has scaled up production and already supplies to customers on a global scale. Our team has been growing rapidly and will keep doing so. Currently, we are looking for an Application Development Engineer for our Thermoplastics Unit.

In this position, you will be working closely with other colleagues in the Thermoplastics Business Unit. As an Application Development Engineer, your role is to generate technical data, which will enable our Sales & Marketing Team to lock in new customers, mobilize innovative projects, and support existing customers.

Responsibilities:

Execute material compounding projects to meet our application development roadmap commitments on time
Characterize the produced composites by different analyses (e.g. TGA, MFI, moisture content, dispersion, tensile test, impact test, conductivity tests, etc.)
Develop new compounding strategies based on new raw material application “rule sets”
Together with management, establish a plan to meet customer requirements for a new or changed product, process, system or technology
Use the latest tools to perform value-added modelling and engineering analysis, draw conclusions from the data and execute forward actions
Together with the QC team, propose and design new test methods or set-ups that may add to the team’s arsenal of tools
Communicate technical information effectively to both colleagues and customers

Requirements:

Master’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering or related Technical degree
2-5 years minimum experience in a similar job
Experience in compounding development or product formulation
Solid understanding of thermoplastics, composites and process techniques
Strong data analysis skills
Good command of both written and verbal English is essential
Able to work both independently and in a team
Deliver accurate end results and meet deadlines
Interpret and follow up on documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Flexible, able to work under pressure, and set priorities
Supports the development of junior staff by providing technical coaching and guidance
Strong communication skills
